1919
From White Sox Wiki
[edit] 1919
This was a tragic year for the Chicago White Sox. They made it to the World Series and were up against the Cincinnati Reds. Eight men were offered a large amount of cash to throw the World Series...and they did. The scandal began when the starting pitcher for the White Sox hit the first batter for the Reds in the opening inning of game one.
[edit] What Happened To The Players
After the staff found out what the eight men did they threw them out of baseball. Some would never even play the sport again.
